Lunch group

For some reason I woke just after 2am and was still awake at 6, despite listening to podcasts which usually send me off quite quickly. I know about the killings in Chicago - The Haymarket Affair (In Our Time), the assassination of Robert Kennedy (history Hits), Margaret Drabble (Thus Cultural Life), Always Take Notes with Robert Harris so I wasn’t at all ready to wake from a deep sleep at 8am when Mr C woke me.

I drove Chris C, Ros and Alison to the Star at Harbottle for a lunch group get together. It was nice to meet different people but the venue, in the Barn extension, was not conducive to conversation. No soft furnishings, one wall all glass etc so there was nothing to absorb the noise. I found it stressful. Alison said one advantage of having hearing aids was she could turn it down (probably off).

I had managed to get the shoulder seams done on my coat. So far so good.

Then we went to Chris’s for supper. She had a London friend to stay. She’s a bit loud, and has strange views often unsupported by any evidence. After complaining about how awful Halloween was and it was an imported American custom she was very surprised when I told her it originated in Celtic countries as Samhain, and we went guising long before trick or treat was introduced. When Carol started to tell us about all her new clothes Mr C saved me by excusing us saying he’s really needing his B12 injection and until he gets it he has to get to bed early. As far as I know I don’t need a B12 injection but I’m off to bed before him.

Thinking of all the US friends and hoping things don’t go orange
