Veggie group lunch
I was so engrossed in trying to pick up 505 stitches evenly to make the front band of the Shetland coat when I looked at the time I realised I had only 30 minutes to get changed and ready to walk the mile over to Alison’s for the veggie food group lunch.
I just made it. Luckily the moaner didn’t come so we spent a jolly 3 hours talking about food (of course), US election, vaccinations, parents, previous jobs, grandchildren, ageing, TV, holidays, Christmas plans etc. The food was delicious. Suzie is very fancy and particular about her offerings - she made a sweet potato soup with a hint of ginger and apricot, swirled with cream and garnished with some pumpkin seeds, served with a savoury scone. She even made the butter into star shapes. Judith made a cauliflower dish with a very spicy sauce and Alison 2 a lentil and spinach hotpot. My contribution was Delia’s red cabbage, - don’t tell! - left over from last Xmas and frozen. I thought it would be perfect for the Bonfire night brief. The 3 dishes worked well together. Host Alison 1 made an apple pie with Chantilly cream.
I thought walking back up the hill might be impossible after it all but I surprised myself.
Jo and I are having FaceTime tonight as she’s just back from Namibia so we like to discuss trips. A nice easy one this time for her after Afghanistan.
