Celebrations: past and present

Photo: The Wallace monument in Stirling is one of Scotland’s best known iconic monuments, a celebration of freedom.

Here’s another  very different celebration.
Imagine my surprise to see the little Welsh village I come from in Wales mentioned in the national media.

Here’s a sample:
“World’s largest GPS penis drawn across south Wales.,” says The Guardian.

It starts in Abergavenny and goes through Crickhowell and Llangenny.”
Why? Well it’s in good cause – to raise awareness of men’s mental health.
It says:
“The outline of the male genitalia – drawn by the on-foot journey of Terry Rosoman – stretches from Hay-on-Wye to Abergavenny via a double circuitous route taking in Crickhowell and Llangenny.
The 75-mile GPS image of a penis has been scrawled across south Wales on the exercise app Strava to raise money for charity. So far, he has almost reached his target of £5,000.
It’s unclear why he had a detour to Llangenny. It must be the first time this tiny village has ever been mentioned in the national media.
I would love to know what the men in the local pub have to say about it.
