Searching for Brightness

Oxalis gracilis, one of several South African oxalis species in flower in the greenhouse at present.  This one produces most unpromising spindly shoots initially, so fine you might miss them.  The top growth develops quite quickly, narrow leaves and then slim buds which open to these showy flowers of which there are many.   It might be even more impressive if we had more sunshine but the run of dull, grey days continues.   Sunshine tomorrow perhaps.  I hope so as it will be my last chance to see them for a week as I set off for London on Friday.

Another quiet day at home with Ruth but at least it started earlier than yesterday.  Various admin and phone call jobs done with Ruth and more laundry ... another reason I'm wishing for sunshine.   A walk with Meg this afternoon and a snooze after, then I cooked tea for Ruth, Jamie and I before dashing off to choir.  Late as usual but I only missed the warm ups before we spent an evening rehearsing a medley of Christmas songs.   Much needed uplift :-)
