Park Street Church
Yesterday we followed the Freedom Trail through Boston's centre. As it was an important location for the War of Independence, we came across, inter alia, the Boston Massacre site, Paul Revere's house and a statue of Paul Revere on his incredible horse (second extra).
Another landmark is the Park Street Church. Founded in 1809, it was the place where prison reform began in the United States. Women's suffrage and abolition of slavery were also hot topics within its walls.
My first extra shows the Massachusetts State House. Completed in 1798, its gold dome is covered in 23-karat gold leaf. State parliament meets here.
