Bright lights
in the darkness.
What a day at work. The construction is now above us, so the desibels (measured in my phone app) were 75+ and way over 80 and even 90. My ears hurt my head hurts. My ears had this humming noise after work.
I went talk to our boss lady as soon as I saw her arrive and told her that I had earplugs and was pushing them against my ears and still the noise bothered us and the residents. She told me there's noise canceling headphones at 6th floor that we can go get those. Well, the 6th floor staff consider those their own for the hygienic reasons and therefor will not borrow those. My co-worker asked if we could also get the same headphones, and no we can't. Everyone can not. Right. (6th floor got them as they have one screaming resident.)
So I called our occupational health provider and talked to a nurse. If my ears still ache tomorrow I will call again and see a doctor. Anyway I will have a call from our very own nurse about the situation. The law here states that if the decibels go over 80 the workers should have hearing protectors that fit them well. And what about the residents. Don't get me started there. I can not believe this is happening at 2024. I'm so angry and disappointed. And worried about all of our health and hearing. Our boss should stand up for us and not just feed us to the wolves.
