HOSPITAL SCENES - chairs and cannula
I had an appointment this morning at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead for an endoscopy. I had to be at the hospital for 8.55am. I was having sedation so I needed someone to pick me up afterwards so I asked my sister in law Virginia. She was happy to do it... and she kindly gave me a lift to the hospital as well. She came at 8pm
She dropped me off and went to do some shopping and then go home to wait for me to let her know when I was ready to be collected. The endoscopy dept was fairly busy - staff and patients coming and going all the time. I managed a quick shot of the chairs in the waiting room when there was no-one in there.
When it was my turn there were forms to be filled in and a cannula was put in my hand- that was painful. Then I was given the numbing throat spray which tastes awful. Then the endoscopy .... this was OK as I was sedated. ( Ive had one before without sedation and it was terrible ) It didn't take long and afterwards I messaged Virginia to come and get me.
I'm supposed to have someone with me at home for 24hrs but that isn't possible. So I told the nurses when they asked ( many times ) that Neil would be here. ( Liar, Liar, Pants On Fire ) If I had said I was going to be alone they wouldn't have done the sedation. In the end Ive been absolutely fine. Neil and Virginia have both messaged me a few times to check up on me and Ive just relaxed since I got back. Was told not to use the cooker so I just had cold meat and salad for my meal. And I was told not to sign any important documents in case my judgement was impaired. Haven't done that either.
The weather today has been dull and misty again. And rather chilly too
