Drat That Cat!
Not what I imagined Blipping today. But, in the midst of a short break for lunch in an all day training (on Zoom) for me, Mike made a dramatic flight over Aduro, and off the pavement, whilst carrying his plate and glass - broken glass, water, crockery, food and husband all over the place.
By the time training had ended, decided he'd better get an x-ray, so we started on the 40min drive to Moura. I've literally not driven for years, felt quite scared, and then - got diverted because of an out of action bridge, and ended up taking two hours on dark, winding, narrow, wild boar roads. But we made it, and about an hour and a half later (could have been eight or more hours in Évora) found out nothing broken, but needs to use crutches, and so on, for five days, and hope swelling goes down, or might need who knows what - surgery? The doctor was Brazilian (from Mato Grosso), lives in Badajoz.
Absolutely starving by the time we got back almost 10pm (I'd had to split my already small lunch with Mike), so stopped off at Domingos, who rustled up some bread, cheese, chicken and chips, and a carafe of wine for us. While we were eating, Cecílio and Ermelinda arrived with crutches they'd found, and here we are, safely home - and Aduro being told to stay out from under people's feet.
No quotes and no comments; I'm beyond tired; but some gratefuls instead:
- being forced into starting driving again
- getting there and back safely, and encountering no boars
- nothing broken, and home in our own bed for the night
- our Support Group (including our kids) supporting us and praying all the way
- Cecílio and Ermelinda really going out of their way to help
- red sun turning the Lake pink as we crossed the Luz bridge on the way out, always beauty
