Trixie's Adventures

Taking it easy...................

After yesterday's 'big long walk'., today Ann said that we would take it easy. Mmmmmm........... I think her idea of taking it easy and my idea of taking it easy are two different things......... We still got up at the same time and I still went for a normal length morning walk. And then................. I gobbled up my breakfast because Ann had chicken for her dinner  last night and couldn't eat it all , so  saved it for my breakfast this morning, yum, yum  sat and watched a bit of catch up TV. Well obviously I didn't watch catch up TV because I am a dog and I wanted to have more snooze time.

At about 10am Ann said, 'Trixie, I'm going for a swim at Gracemount Leisure Centre at 12pm. I think I'll take you for a decent length walk now in case I'm too tired when I come home.'

Obviously, I'm happy to go for a walk at any time of the day or night. I am a Collie, after all, but because Ann had told me we'd be taking it easy, I thought I'd be having a lot of snooze time. We went along the lower path around Blackford Hill and then down into the Hermitage. It's one of my favourite walks so I was all happy & bouncy.

By 11.20am we'd walked almost 14,000 steps. Ann said that was enough for one day even though I knew I'd be getting a walk this afternoon.

Ann went off for a swim at Gracemount Leisure Centre (she swam half a mile if anyone is interested) and I had snooze time. OMG! Why she hasn't been to Gracemount Leisure Centre before she doesn't know. Probably because it's not located in the best area of the city. Yes she knows that is a very snobbish comment! It was fabulous. Plenty of parking spaces in the free car park, a 25 metre pool, nice changing facilities & lockers, nice receptionist when the oldies (Ann & her friend checked in) and oh, there's a cafe too. Bonus. Plus, if Ann doesn't want to drive cos she rarely takes the car out in the city it's on a bus route too. It cost £6.75 for a swim but Ann has just discovered that as she's 65 years old she can apply for a 'discount card' to give her 20% off. So there are some advantages of being old. Lol! The fitness classes are £9.99 though. OK approx £8 with 20% off. For a 45min class. That seems a bit excessive?! Though we're guessing it's a 'supply & demand' thing. All classes have to be booked in advance because they're so popular (well we are in a city).

............When we were in St Ives, my human's Zumba classes were £5 for an hour and her Line Dancing classes were £4 for an hour and a half and she just turned up and paid cash on the door. Edinburgh Leisure Centres are cashless, which is fine for my human, but people who are a generation older than her, won't be able to cope with that, so that's immediately rejecting a lot of the older population.

…....................Enough ranting?!!!!!

I went out for another little half hour walk at 3.30pm. It's almost dark in Scotland by then, but Ann wanted chocolate so we had to come home via our little local Sainsbury's. It's the only place that she feels confident enough to tie me up outside because the self service tills are right by the window and obviously she doesn't want anyone to steal me.

…...........Another RANT coming up – there is a beggar/homeless person who has taken up residence by the 'dog tie up spot' so I had to get tied up by the one further away, which doesn't have such a good view of me from the self service check-outs. At least there's CCTV & Ann never leaves me there for more than a few mins. Ann bought custard doughnuts & chocolate, but by the time we got home her desire for something sweet had gone, so the doughnuts will go in the freezer and the chocolate will go in the fridge.

….............And that's been our day. What rock & roll lives we lead. Ann's busy cooking her dinner and I've just gobbled up mine and then we're going to spend the evening watching 'soaps'.

Whooooooohooooooo...........................
