American Holly
Hubby is still sleeping on the recliner at night. His upper respiratory illness requires he sleep more or less upright. His cough is deep but his COVID test is negative. The FDA just reported that the cough suppressant in popular medicines is ineffective. Hubby’s reaction to his cough meds certainly substantiates those findings. He wanted to drain the camper’s water tank so he can winterize it.. I called my mother to offer to pick up groceries. While I was at the store, I gathered what I needed also. We took her a surprise breakfast - pancakes, sausage, eggs and hash brown casserole. She was delighted. She can enjoy the almond bear claws later. Hubby stayed outside to minimize Momma catching his cold. Much to her relief, I found the missing kitchen trash bags; they were tucked under other things in her utility room. She knows her memory isn’t what it used to be and that really frustrates her. Unfortunately, she doesn’t realize how bad her short term memory really is. This berry laden holly shrub is at the corner of her driveway. I’ve noticed most holly trees have more berries than usual this year. We came home, had a quick lunch and hubby collected the thick layer of leaves off the lawn. Our neighbor’s tall maples accounted for a good percentage. He’ll have to collect them more than once I suspect. I took care of one load of laundry and watered all my plants in the basement. Dinner is made so I will probably just stay on the recliner and nurse my own sinus issues this evening. Wishing you a healthy weekend. Stay safe. Thanks for stopping by. “And as, when all the summer trees are seen So bright and green, The Holly leaes a sober hue display Less bright than they, But when the bare and wintry woods we see, What then so cheerful as the Holly-tree?”
