Science with Pierre

Well we're home despite Cross Country Trains trying their best to ensure otherwise!  I used to look forward to a good train journey but several trips to and from Oxford in recent months have had issues: cancellations; delays; reservations cancelled.  Today, we arrived at Oxford Station after taking leave of our family, to discover two disruptions on the first leg of our journey:  reduced services and warning of football fans.  They were the least of our problems as an announcement came that there were three signalling issues, our train was being held back at Reading
and we were advised to get a Chilterns train to somewhere in the direction of London and then pick up a train to Birmingham Moor Street (??) That journey meant we stopped at Bicester, went for half an hour east then came back to Bicester North (??).  Finally reaching Birmingham, we walked across to New Street where I looked up the next Leeds train.  The information said it was the Edinburgh train but was very busy so passengers were advised to take another service.  Totally fed up by now we took a chance and followed the train along the platform, jumping on and grabbing the first available seats on a packed four carriage train (Four carriages all the way from Devon to Edinburgh??) Thankfully, the reserved seats we chucked all our bags into hadn't been taken up so we could keep them until Leeds.  Finally home two hours after original schedule.  I apologise for the rant!

My blip before we left is of Euan and Pierre doing Science, both still in their PJs.   Euan has to write down his travels with Teddy Pierre for the next few days so everyone went off to his favourite MAD Museum in Stratford.

Hope to be back to commenting tomorrow!  Thank you for hanging in there folks.
