The King

We had a few hours at WWT Martin Mere today and the sight of a kingfisher was enough to brighten up what was yet another really grey day. 
He sat on this branch which was quite close, for a little while, and then did some fishing and caught 3 stickleback. Unfortunately he always took his catch into the shrubbery to bash and then swallow it and I was way too slow to catch a shot of him flying.  So it's just a bird on a stick I'm afraid. 
But you can't moan about seeing a kingfisher really, can you?!

A flavour in extras of the other things we saw, which I could have easily used as my main blip, but I can rarely resist posting a kingfisher if it is kind enough to show itself to me :)
