Quarry Bank Mill Poppies
Today we took my Mum to Quarry Bank Mill. It started out with some periods of sunshine and blue skies so we did a walk in the woods first, spent 10 minutes going around the Quarry Bank House and then went to the Ship in Styal for lunch.
To be honest, the House where the Greg family lived and was lived in until 2015, wasn't that interesting. It was sparsely furnished and only 3 rooms open for viewing.
When we came out of the pub after lunch it was raining, so we just walked down to the Mill to get some shelter. It was really interesting seeing the conditions in which they worked and hearing about all who worked there. I enjoyed it a lot.
As we arrived at the Mill before lunch, we saw this lovely poppy display, knitted and crocheted by a group of dedicated volunteers. It is 10.5m long and made from over 2000 individual poppies.
