Pedro and Hector
We went to the Farmer's Market this morning. I didn't sleep well and was greeted by a letter John had brought up from the mail box cancelling our homeowner's insurance for the third time. The reason given was that their were 'no railings on the stairs.' It's true that there are no railings on the 35 stairs going up to the top garden and veggie boxes, but there are railings on all the 'public' stairways from the driveway to the house. This did nothing for my mood, already pretty grumpy, but Dana and Jim arrived and talked us into going to the market. I'm glad I did.
It was a lovely morning, we bought lots of fresh produce (and a truly decadent hot chocolate you could almost stand a spoon in) had some nice conversations with some of the vendors and I put some money in a tin on the fruit vendor's table with a hand lettered label that said 'donations for Cesar's college fund'. I assume Cesar is the pleasant and helpful lad talking to someone about the difference between Fuyu and Hachiya persimmons.
Jim is going to look into finding a more local insurance agent. I assured them both that we were really happy to have them back and not just because we had dumped our latest really annoying setback in their laps....
When we got home Pedro and Hector were here taking down the 'white wall' they rebuilt for us after the fire, and replacing it with a metal hog wire fence to match what is behind John in the picture. I think they thought we are a bit crazy, but they never question any of our requests. They haven't finished putting up the new fence yet, but we can already tell that we like it better. I took a picture as they were talking to John while having lunch at the little table in the fire garden.
Before they left for the day, they took away the broken dishwasher, the broken microwave and the not-a-Peloton from the garage. Which reminded me to get on the actual Peloton for a ride with the 'hot Buddhist monk' (Weeflecky's title).
Not huge accomplishments but two things I had to talk myself into doing and was glad I did....
