A little brightness

A damp and dreary day but when we set out this afternoon there was a little brightness in the sky. Perhaps a sign of things to come in the next few days.

Our day was also brightened by seeing the Exhibition on Screen film of the Van Gogh Exhibition that we went to see at the National Gallery a few weeks ago. We were a bit hesitant at first, as we both loved the exhibition so much and sometimes a screening can be a disappointment. In actual fact it was very good. Having the curators and others talking about the paintings and their significance was a great idea. Seeing actual scenes from the Arles and San Remy area, places so very familiar to us, was a treat. It was very well done. And it was very well attended. I don't think I have seen the cinema in Rheged so full. 

Of course nothing compares with the live exhibition itself, which I am so pleased we made the effort to go and see, but it was a lovely addition. Now I want to return to the exhibition! I doubt that is going to happen but you never know. .
