Fireworks
I was glad of a clear sky this evening, as I'd booked tickets to the Wimbledon Park fireworks so that I could see a 'bonfire' night this year. When I'd finished working, I walked to Wimbledon to meet PY from the train. It was running late, but not excessively so. He wasn't happy about that, nor the crowds we had to try to navigate as we walked towards the entrance. The earlier show, primarily designed for youngsters, had finished, and there were many buggies and small people on scooters to avoid.
We eventually got in and walked to the fireworks area. The food and drink stalls all had very long queues. We stood in the pizza line until showtime had almost arrived. We were nowhere near the front, so we turned around to stand watching the show. PY wanted a swift getaway to avoid getting stuck in crowds, so we stood next to the exit.
The show itself lasted about 25 minutes. I thought it was terrific. It was not coordinated with the music throughout, but at times, the fireworks' bangs and the beat did align. The organisers used flames as one of the effects, which was very well done. After the show, we were towards the front of those leaving, making our way home via Earlsfield station and then pizza from the Co-op (where the queue was non-existent and we could get served).
