The Evil Eye?

"Well, Mr Cardinal, there is no need for that! Yes,I know that I left the feeders empty all summer but it was not meant to hurt you but to discourage rats. And then I wasn't around to fill them again until just now. I could not help that, so don't get all haughty on me..just be grateful I am back and you are being fed."

It was a cold, grey and drizzly day meant for sitting by the fire reading lighthearted novels and watching Britbox or chatting on the phone with friends in faraway places. 

It was also the perfect day for an afternoon visit for chat and snacks at my neighbour' Diane's house across the street. She used to come to my house every Tuesday morning for coffee, but now that her husband requires more care, she is not as free to come and go as before, so this was a special treat to spend some time with her. 

With all those activities, and a little Duolingo thrown in, the day just flew by; I hardly noticed the rain!
