Maggie and Me
Maggie has got so used to me being here 24/7 now that she is not amused when I go out galavanting, leaving her at home with no-one to fulfill her every wish..like combing, delivering treats etc.. At the moment, she is not speaking to me...
..because I went out! Imagine that...I actually went OUT to lunch with a friend. (extra)
It is one thing to have friends drop by, but another to have them take you out! What a treat...I can drive but the surgeon says I shouldn't, that I am not really ready yet and I need to work up some strength in my arms first.. So being chauffeured to lunch by my friend Geri was a special treat.
I really enjoy my time with Geri. She is an amazing person - so talented, so full of energy and enthusiasm. She is the kind of person who is interested in everything, always challenging herself to try new things - and when she tackles a new hobby, she masters it! She is one of those people who inspire you ..
Geri's husband passed away early this summer and it has been a tough time for her, but she is working hard at handling the challenges and has made this next year her "Year of Yes", promising herself that she will take advantage of every opportunity offered..and has already booked workshops, retreats and travel with friends for the coming year! I always come away from a visit with her, feeling upbeat and energized.
My family doctor has on his office wall, a tapestry of inspirational sayings he has come across. One he really likes, and we discussed it at my last appointment, is by Maya Angelou ..
People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel"
I thought of that saying today when I got home from lunch with Geri...
