Veteran’s Day 2024
I slept in until 9:30 after being awake at 4 am for a couple hours. Thankful that I remembered to phone my dermatologist’s office yesterday to cancel my appointment this morning. My sister and BIL stopped by so we could work on the menu and our contribution to our friend’s Thanksgiving dinner. They decided we could bring the desserts. The important reason to come up with a 3-week menu is to ensure we carry all the ingredients. We plan to make 4-5 meals that will be new to us which will be fun. I worked on my Christmas gifts “to buy” list and updated two spreadsheets. Normally, hubby participates in two Veteran’s Day activities. We have the largest Veteran’s Day parade in Maryland; he usually carries the U.S. Flag. The Knights are also the honor guard for a wreath laying ceremony at a veteran memorial in the county. But, his cough is still too deep to try carrying a flag up and down hills. So we did easy, odd jobs around the house. He changed the oil in his SUV and turned in his comments on a new book he is reviewing. The author was thankful for his very useful notes. She plans a partial rewrite to strengthen the mystery. Jamie brought us steak and mixed vegetables. I’ll make potatoes to go with them for dinner. It will be much cooler for the rest of the week. It’s too bad we had to stay out of the sun today. Wishing you a week of pleasant weather. Stay safe. Thanks for dropping by. “It doesn’t take a hero to order men into battle. It takes a hero to be one of those men who goes into battle.” – Norman Schwarzkopf
