Finally

Slept much better last night and woke to a clear sky promising sunshine at last.i took the car to the Musselburgh garage to arrange the ordering of the part required to fix the lights above the number plate (more complicated to repair than it should be!), and stopped at the large supermarket nearby for the heavy things I only buy occasionally.
Drove to Joppa and did a long walk along the beach and back, picking up some coffee about half way. Beautiful morning and lovely to feel the sun after all the heavy grey days. Continued to listen to the new Elif Shafak book as I walked, still enjoying both the story and her beautiful writing.
Home and did some financial housekeeping, ironing, changed my bed and other domestic stuff. I got the delivery of the photo calendar I’d been working on last week, and almost at the same time an email saying another delivery couldn’t be made because I wasn’t at home….for goodness sake!,
Out to the Festival Theatre for a chance to sit in on a Masterclass by Susan Bullock with four emerging artists from Scottish Opera. Fascinating to see the tiny points she picked up on with them and how their singing changed as a result. I really enjoyed watching, and then chatting to some of the performers and audience later.
Had to dash down to Arclight’s afterwards for book group and stood for a while outside before realising the bezel was broken and the door wasn’t locked, but waited for Laura and hazelh and we went up together. A quieter evening than we often have, with E, Winsford and M not able to come, but we enjoyed delicious Spanish tapas style starter, chilli and brown rice then baked plums in red wine and spices with clotted cream. Delicious! Slightly mixed view on Orbital by Samantha Harvey but I enjoyed it. We agreed it wasn’t something we’d have read otherwise but admired her poetic style of writing, the research behind it, and the confined atmosphere she created which of course mirrors the experience of the astronauts in the space station whose story she was telling.
Dropped Laura near the station then home and went straight to bed.
