The Grovetown Lagoon
This afternoon Margaret, Emily, I and Maisie the dog drove out the Grovetown Lagoon about 10 kms from Blenheim. With Maisie on her lead at all times, we walked the tracks and board-walk around the perimeter of the waterway, a distance of almost four kms. The Lagoon is a very special place for its history, conservation values and local heritage. For a number of years a group of conservationists, mostly volunteers, have worked on a conservation and planting project to assist the restoration of the Lagoon to enhance the habitat for fish and birdlife. Their dedication and hard work is paying dividends to make this a very special place for us to appreciate and enjoy. Well done and thanks to all those involved.
