Stay off the tracks

After work, to the station for a train to Woking. We stood on the platform next to the new 'stay off the tracks' signs, which seem to be appearing at every station along the route. I assume this is an attempt to reduce the number of trespass incidents, but will they work?

We arrived at The Wheatsheaf and were shown to the reserved table we'd booked. It was right in front of a big-screen TV. One of the managers came across and asked if we really wanted to watch the football. He said they expected a reasonable crowd as Scotland were playing Germany in the Euros (Scotland lost 5-1), and it would be sound on. Apparently, the sound is only on for home nation games. They thought we might not want to sit there and had another space in the quiet area ready to be made up for eight people if we wanted. It was a nice gesture.

Kath & Steve were visiting, so it was a meal with the extended PY clan. It was a lovely meal and, in the end, the pub was not very noisy. Many people came to say hello to Scarlett as she was on her blanket at the end of the table towards the toilets and had lots of petting as people passed.

At some point in the evening, and I am unsure why, we started measuring each other's ears. It was one of those things where somebody mentioned the size of their ears, and suddenly, we had a measure and a lot of laughing—a wonderful evening
