A day by the river
It was good to have a largely sunny day today, though it was a touch chilly. My sis and I decided to go into Richmond on the bus, a half-hour ride or so. I'm a sucker for the River Thames and all that goes with it - Richmond is a pretty wealthy place, with many lovely houses, especially along the riverside. I don't begrudge the wealthy folk their splendid houses - the hoi polloi can admire them and photograph them - without having to pay for them! My Blip today shows part of the beautiful riverside development downstream of the bridge - we sat outside on the other side of the bridge and enjoyed a coffee in the sunshine.
We then walked over the bridge and back towards Twickenham, hoping to have lunch in the cafe in Marble Hill Park, but found it closed for the winter. After a few failures we found ourselves down by the river opposite the famous Eel Pie Island, where so many famous bands performed in the 1960s.
We had lunch in a wonderful riverside pub, the Barmy Arms, my Blip today. Lovely food, beautiful plants in the garden and a most friendly and amusing host, a native of Crete.
All in all a lovely day - back at my sister's as it began to get dark, nice cup of tea and a cuddle with the cats!
