Blooper number one!
Breastfeeding support
training day. Inspiring to
meet up face to face :-)
We've been doing our peer support training for weeks now and it's all been online, today was the first day we met up in person. It was a fun morning and so lovely to connect with these wonderful volunteers. We all shared a little of our stories and why we wanted to support breastfeeding mums, everyone's tale was different and thought provoking. I was really glad we'd had the chance to meet up. We also had been tasked with taking photos of us demonstrating peer support skills to put in our workbooks to get graded. We had quite a lot of fun trying to get into the right positions, wanting to get it right but not taking ourself too seriously! It was very different than assessment we've done on zoom, we were able to support each other and also have a giggle. This is me attempting to show good positioning for a mum and baby when breastfeeding. If you're interested.. I (the mum) am laid back and supporting myself on the table (fake arm of my sofa!) Baby is straight, close to me, with a free head and benefiting from the stability of me being laid back and able to use their natural reflexes to feed. It's also a blooper as I lost my composure with all eyes on me :-D Good luck to you if you end up in one of my breastfeeding support groups in the future :-/
The rest of the day was trying to give Leo some walks to make up for being absent, taking older teen to a tutor session and making some pesto. I feel like it's been busy but now I write it down it doesn't look like much!
