Mulch delivery
Sitting at home having a cup of tea when I had a call from the driver of the haulage company to say he was at the allotment with 8 tonnes of mulch to offload.
A surprise to me as I’d not had any notification that delivery was due today. Good job I was able to get there in 10 minutes.
When I arrived the carpark was unusually full with no room to get the truck near to the gates so that the bags could be lifted over the gate and placed on the main path.
It was our good fortune that a lady next to the gates was just leaving so the driver was able to manoeuvre his truck just close enough for the extendable crane to do its job.
It felt like he was operating one of those amusement arcade crane grab games as he deftly picked up, swung out and precisely lowered the bag onto the site.
I hope he got out of the carpark alright, he was doing some nifty turns amongst the parked cars when I left. I’ve now got to shift my 2 tonnes - probably about 30 barrowloads.
After that excitement I went for a run, made lunch then gave an evergreen its annual haircut. Finished off with a few jobs left over from before we went away.
Cloudless blue skies this morning with a cool NW breeze which gave way to rain at lunchtime and a much cloudier afternoon. All far better than the clag of the past two weeks.
