except.....there's been a murrder! I've been studiously avoiding looking at the pigeon corpse since D told me about it a couple of days ago, but now a neighbour has thoughtfully moved it aside into the leaf litter. Probably a peregrine strike - instantaneous, and the killer only bothered to take out....the breast? The still beating heart (a bit Aztec, that would be)?
