The Jim Clark Memorial Sculpture
Following yesterday’s entry, it makes sense to show the Jim Clark Memorial Sculpture.
Jim Clark was born in Kilmany and the sculpture is sited on the side of the road he walked along from his home at Wester Kilmany Farm to the local primary school.
I was invited to form an appeal group to raise money for the work. The sculpture was created by David Annand who lives and sculpts in Kilmany. I designed his house and studio.
Jackie Stewart was very supportive of the Sculpture and encouraged the Ford Motor Company to make the major contribution.
The names of the supporter groups are on the base with the initials of the memorial appeal members formed in the waist band of Jim Clark’s overalls.
It was a very happy event. Jackie Stewart is the quite the comedian. The people in the photograph are mainly local together with Jim Clark’s sisters and families.
