Just a chair

During our visit to IKEA yesterday I acquired a new chair. I realised that the one I had was no longer suitable. I spend such a lot of time at my desk and at my computer and, across the room, at my sewing table so I need something to give more support and to be easier to manoeuvre. I found the perfect one and am now using it. - so much better.

As for the Booker Winner, which was announced last night - I am saying very little now, as I said it all a few weeks ago. I agree totally with the choice, I have loved it from the beginning.

Orbital is a beautiful book, giving a unique perspective on the world . . . from afar. I would recommend it to anyone, but with a warning - do not expect a plot or much action or character development. Do expect some of the most gorgeous writing and wonderful images. Read it slowly and ponder it long. It's a book for now and for the future.

Samantha Harvey said at the prize-giving:
It’s a book for those who are for the planet not against; for those who are for humanity, not against.
