Strangelove
Tonight I'm seeing the stage production of Dr Strangelove, with Steve Coogan playing the same three roles as Sellers in Kubrick's film. Brave man, perhaps, but Coogan is a fine actor. I'm also a big fan of him.
Given the subject matter of the play, it was ironic that today I visited the Rutherford Appleton Labs on the Harwell research site. I went with our developer F, and we met two old friends of mine who have much experience that's of value to F. It could have been done by video, but there's still no substitute for meeting people in person.
After we returned to Paddington, I continued into the centre of London, where I walked from Regents Park to Soho via Turf zones. Although the opulence can be criticised, it's done very well. The photo is of Fortnum and Mason, which really stood out. I had plenty of time, and found myself a small restaurant in Chinatown, where I had a beer and a plate of noodles with duck.
Coogan actually plays Dr. Strangelove, Captain Mandrake, President Muffley, and Major TJ Kong. Sellars was supposed to play the last role, but sprained his ankle!
