Life's Little Moments

Just Charlie

I decided to press Charlie into service for today's photo - he's a very photogenic cat and is usually moderately cooperative when I want to take pictures.  I decided to go for a very tight shot to get the detail on his iris, as well as his little nose freckles and random black whiskers.  The nose freckles are called Lentigo and are a skin condition common in ginger and yellow cats.  It is a completely harmless condition and has no risk for cancer, so nothing to be concerned about.

I started working on my flights for my trip to Texas this winter.  I'm going to meet up with fellow Blippers WRPerry and Osuzanna to photograph Whopping Cranes, followed by a trip to the Santa Clara Ranch for bird/wildlife photography.  Also on the trip will be a couple of other people who were in South Africa with us earlier this year, so it will be a fun group.  I am going to add a couple of days on the beginning of the trip to swing over to Fort Hood Army Base and spend a few days with nephew and family.  The trip involves a lot of small airports which means connections through either Dallas or Houston, so lots of flight logistics to work out.  At least the lenses and camera gear will be fairly straightforward although I will probably need to rent one lens.  Plenty of time to agonize over that between now and then - lol!

I emptied a couple of flower pots this morning.  I think the pansies are safely done blooming as are the Gerbera daisies.  Both are annuals in our area so when they are done, they are permanently done.  I tossed the dirt and roots out into the woods where they can nourish the soil.  Jax has been monitoring the squirrel situation in the garden and demanding to go out when he thinks they are out of hand.  He usually just goes out on the deck and barks and they scatter, but today he chased one to the fence.

Dark with cayenne again...
