Day 12 Mekong Delta adventure!

And what a brilliant day out it was, even though I forgot my sunglasses!!

Up at 6am to for our 7am departure to the Mekong Delta. It’s about a 90 minute drive there, with a stop at a wonderful temple.

A boat trip to a part where we sat down and tried honey products, fresh exotic fruit, sweet tea, and watched them making coconut sweets, all by hand. We also got a chance to hold a boa constrictor. I declined, but I know there IS a photo of me holding a huge boa in India in the 70s…

Then we walked to another part of the delta for a trip on one of their long narrow boats that swish through the mangroves. I was a teensy bit worried about this - stepping on to moving small boats is not my strong point, but there was always a strong hand to assist. The problem was actually getting out again…

But what a treat that was! JR had a seat right in front, so she got all the best shots.

After that we went for lunch. A whole ‘elephant ears’ fish per table. A young woman came and made a spring roll for us, using the fish, and green veges in rice paper. We also had vegetable soup. And beer. It was excellent!

I’m doing this on the bus, as we have things to do back on the ship, including immigration information to Singapore. Hopefully the WiFi will be working later - I couldn’t upload last night.
