Derwent Calm
Met up with ByBrian this morning for an hours photography at the edge of Derwentwater. He was working with a new (old) IR converted DSLR, I tried an 850 IR filter on the 12mm lens on my Fuji, but it created a massive hotspot, so that's a non-starter.
Tried a few long exposures to smooth the water out - it was so bright, even a big stopper (10 stop) was only giving exposures of a few seconds at 64ISO! Not what I'd usually expect in November. a 0.6 ND grad lept the bright areas of the sky in check too, though when the sun did make it into the frame, I had to wait for a cloud to cover the sun to avoid detail from blowing out completely.
Was so good to get out and see a friend - feels like I'm well on the mend now.
