Sheep on the Park
It took a while to get ready but Basil and I set off just before midday on Cecily down to Garendon Park. It was a lovely day with sunshine for the season.
Leaves were falling and the colours were vibrant. I'd always imagined Garendon to be an arable farm so I was slightly taken aback to find a flock of sheep on this large meadow where wheat had grown in the summer.
Look closer, and you will see that they are feeding on a forage crop, quite possibly phalacia, which was sown quickly after the wheat was harvested. These crops are usually relatively rich in protein and will boost the animals' health for winter.
