Hanover Point
As today was the last of the very low tides and another beautiful evening I took a second trip to Compton Bay on the south coast of the island.
Tonights picture is of an outcrop of rocks known as Hanover Point where in the rock pools can be found an abundance of sea creatures and fossils.
The structure on the horizon is a stone 'thimble' which was built for target practice for the old guns situated in Freshwater Bay about one mile away. Sometimes cannon balls are found in the rockpools nearby. Due to it's tiny size I would doubt it suffered many direct hits. Occasionally the unwary attempt to reach the landmark and get cut off by the tide as it surges around the point.
Again probably best in Large.
