Train Challenge No 10/Bus Challenge No 229
Tewkesbury Abbey, Gloucestershire - more views in extras (couldn’t decide which to use as main blip), inside and out, as well as photos of some of the many medieval timbered houses in the town
The day in brief:
- lift from my BC friend to the local station
- train into Bristol
- train to Cheltenham (had to stand all the way!)
- train to Ashchurch
- bus to Tewkesbury
- walked through the town and along the River Avon, admiring the many beautiful medieval timbered buildings in this historic Cotswold town
- visited the magnificent Norman Abbey and lit a candle for Mum
- tasty lunch in the abbey café
- bus to Gloucester
- bought cakes at a bakery to munch on the way home
- train to Bristol, enjoying a belated birthday tinned cocktail!
- train to local station
- lift home
Only had two and a half hours in Tewkesbury as my BC friend didn’t want to have to drive home in the dark, but still worth the long journey, we nattered all the way, and there were refreshments! Beautiful autumn day, cold crisp and sunny.
