There Must Be Magic

Running: the Last of the Colors / Water Visions

We had errands in town, but planned to stop somewhere on the way home for some exercise. My husband had his jogging clothes along, and I had my tunes box with me and my happy shoes on. They are purple and pink and they never cease to make me smile. Happy feet, happy girl!

We ended up - somehow - with yet MORE new tires for my car. The tire guy cut us an unbelievable deal, and we took it. We stashed the two new ones in the back seat, along with the rest of our loot. So the car smelled of fresh rubber.

The last batch of new tires was put on the front wheels a week or so ago. These new ones will go on in springtime: in the front, with the others then moved to the back. Can you believe that I have fresh new tires on my car AND on my bike? What a great time to be me!

After all of that, we ended up at the little park along route 550 that used to be called Buffalo Run Park, now known as Benner Township Veterans Community Park. My husband put on his jogging shoes and I started walking. As I rounded a corner on the trail, I spotted a place with some foliage color remaining: one very nice tree on the left, one on the right, with colorful leaves on the ground. I took a shot.

Then I looked behind me, and spotted my husband jogging toward me. "Nice day!" he said, and smiled, as he jogged past me, into the last of the colors, and through them, perfectly framed!

Now, he did make some obscene hand gestures just before he did so, which made me laugh as he jogged by. I'm sorry (or maybe not) to admit that we have the sense of humor of teenage boys sometimes. Little old ladies might be shocked. Or then again, maybe not. Little old ladies have seen a thing or two, let me tell YOU.

And then I walked all around the place, but I managed to spend the bulk of my time by the creek, which is a real treasure trove of photos for me. There were leaves in the water, and there was color from the sky, and the water itself was making patterns and reflections. It was just lovely. You could spend a lifetime just trying to understand such a simple thing as WATER.

I made about 50 water abstracts, and one of my favorites can be seen in the extras. I call these my water visions. Sometimes, I fantasize about one day having a photo show that features huge prints of the best of my work. That would include my water work, for I do love my water shots, both the abstracts AND the reflections. It is well worth celebrating: clean, pure WATER. PROTECT IT, at all costs!

I don't think that everyone sees the same things when they look at the world. For instance, I suspect that most people don't SEE what I see when I look at water. I find it captivating, all-consuming. I get lost in what my eyes bring in; I crawl entirely into the visual cortex of my brain; I have a party there; I don't want to come out!

So here are two of my best shots from the day: first, my guy, running through the last of the colors; and second, one of my water visions. It was certainly a productive day at the park for PHOTOS!

I've got two photos so here are two soundtrack songs. For the man above, whom I love - and to be honest, whose hands I crave on ME, yes, even after all these years - I'm pulling out a Springsteen classic, Born to Run. And for the water vision in the extras, I've got Tina Turner, rocking that blue denim (and whom I miss SO much, as she was the ultimate hot 80s girl!), with What You Get Is What You See. Hmm, actually, maybe BOTH of these songs apply to the guy in the above photo, LOL!  :-)

What you get is what you see
Ain't nothing more to it
And if you wanna love a woman like me
It takes a man to do it
