Monarch of the glen

Today we walked up Roseberry Topping — something I have somehow never done in the 40+ years I have been coming here. It was a glorious day, albeit with a chilly wind at the top. Quite a lot of people there, including many children. From a distance it looks steep and imposing , but the climb is not that hard, especially if you walk round to the not so steep side, as we did. Sadly we did not spot Ringo there, though maybe he was not far away.

We came down a steeper, shorter route: stats 3km, 210 m climbing, nearly two hours but we did stop to take photos, visit the shooting box (extra), and sit in a sheltered spot at the top to admire the views. Once down, we drove to Great Ayton and lunched on fish and chips in a pub — it has to be done!

A had been to see J at lunchtime, so we went in time to help her eat her evening meal. She was talkative but somewhat confused. The chocolate eclair went down a treat again!
