Poor Bean :-(
Everybody is Blipping lovely pretty photos at the moment (including me) so here I am, bucking the trend.
Poor old Bean chased a cat so that she could play with it first thing this morning, and somehow collided full-tilt with the strainer wire which holds up the gatepost. Normally she skirts around or leaps it, but I guess the pc must have distracted her, or possibly turned on her. I was 60m away, watching from the deck and didn't have a clear view of the accident.
But I had a very clear view indeed of Bean limping pathetically back towards me, crying with pain. Now, let's be honest, she is a complete wooss when it comes to surprises, especially those which include any level of pain, so I wasn't too alarmed.
However, when I reached her it was obvious that she wasn't laying it on thick at all: she had a 10cm open wound in her shoulder, exposing the muscle beneath.
I considered adding the photo of the wound as an extra, but decided it was a bit too graphic, especially for those of you enjoying breakfast.
Two hours later we were home from the vet. Bean had been sedated, cleaned, stitched, pierced with needles full of antibiotics and anti-inflammatories, unsedated and allowed to find her feet (literally).
It is now four hours since she came round and she is still looking floppy and somewhat wobbly. There has been some tail-wagging, and she has just eaten a handful of treats, so she'll be fine.
Now I need sedation to get over the shock of the vet bill. It would have been slightly eye watering on a weekday, but with the Sunday vet-call fee added it's nasty. Still, it had to be done.
Bean is an expensive dog at the moment...
