Under The Bridge

This morning dawned bright and dry, so we decided to do a slightly different walk to get our Sunday coffees. Park up at Morrisons and then walk along the river, via Sandy Bottoms, before picking up the usual path at Dockray. Then we’d have our coffee at Caffè Nero before walking back to the car down the main road.
A brilliant plan, with only a couple of minor flaws. It was cold and muddy underfoot - not insurmountable issues granted, but the arrival of the rain only a few yards into the walk was more of an issue. It seemed quite light, so we decided to push on. Mistake. It got steadily heavier and we were quite damp by the time we got to the footbridge over the river. Whilst sheltering under the bridge to see if the rain eased (it didn’t!), I took the photo because I liked the combination of lines and reflections.
A cup of coffee and a toasted tea cake revived our spirits and, thankfully, it had stopped raining when we set off back to the car. Just over 5km covered, so a reasonable walk all round.
Then it was straight out to Panto rehearsal. This afternoon was mainly to run through the musical numbers so, as a definite non-singer, I was allowed to leave early after running through the finale and walk down numbers. I can’t escape being on stage for those, but my vocal involvement is quite minimal.
Curtains drawn and heating on now. I’ll put the roast in the oven soon and then settle down for a night in front of the telly. Snow forecast next week so that could be the pattern for the next few nights…
