Defying Gravity

What was this magical/supernatural phenomenon I witnessed in the gym today? The ghostly presence of an ex-member who overdid it on the rowing machine? A sophisticated device rigged up by the gym owner to remind us to wipe down the equipment after use?
No, the more prosaic answer is that the blue roll dispenser sits above the radiator. Which is normally switched off. It is a measure of how cold it was outside today that the radiator had been turned on and the warm air was fluttering the end of the roll.
Having dressed accordingly, I wasn’t that cold in the gym anyway, and soon warmed up after the first couple of exercises.
But, after that burst of energy, I reverted to central heating and a blanket in front of the telly for the rest of the day. Mrs C is going out to play table tennis tonight and has left instructions that I contact her immediately if it starts snowing, as she does not want to be stranded in the Leisure Centre overnight!
So far, the sky remains clear…
