Coffee break
To Yarm this morning. It’s a small town with a very long high street, and it has a remarkable range of locally owned shops (mostly of the posh variety) along with pubs and coffee shops. No Starbucks, but one national chain that does have a presence is Waterstones, so naturally we had to visit. A good haul, including their only copy of Jonathan Coe’s new novel, signed by the author! That will be our next bedtime read, when we’ve finished the Kate Atkinson. We spent so much that I now have a tenner to spend on my discount card.
We fancied a coffee, so we squeezed into this tiny deli/coffee shop, with typical British decor (not shown: the panettones suspended from the ceiling). Good coffee, and S’s huge slice of cake was delicious too.
A had been to see J at lunchtime and reported that she was sound asleep and didn’t eat or drink anything. When we arrived at five, she was still/again asleep. The nurses managed to wake her up, and although she was barely awake, the chocolate eclair worked its magic again. We gave her some sweets too. But she dozed off again immediately, so we left her to it. We must have worn her out yesterday!
