He returned bearing gifts...
Every time D goes away, something in the house goes t*ts up. When Ele arrived yesterday she asked me if "all was well" and I hesitantly said yes, touching wood at the same time. I should have known better.....woke to a text from Alan's support worker Jordan to say the tumble drier wasn't working and there was a burning smell coming from it so he'd switched it off and unplugged it. This tumble drier was only purchased in June so an irate call will be made.
Timing was good again this morning as I arrived downstairs followed by Ele two minutes later and Agnes two minutes after that. Although we pretended to Agnes that we'd been up for hours and had been waiting for her for ages to have breakfast. Once she was suitably mortified we told her the truth. We are cruel ;-))
As we hadn't wanted dinner last night, we were rather peckish, so bagels with bacon and maple syrup and large mugs of tea was the breakfast of choice. Well brunch as it was just after 11.00am by the time we sat down to eat.
More chat into the afternoon with another cuppa and some goodies, then just after 2.30pm they both gathered their overnight bags and headed home. As they were going out the front door, David was just coming in. Home earlier this year as due to Keith's recent surgery, they weren't playing golf on the way back.
Coffee and crochet whilst listening to D's tales of his weekend away. Always hilarious incidents and this year was no exception. He handed me a little give bag containing some delicious Christmas cheeseboard chutney and two little Christmas decs, so that's my blip :-)
Roast chicken salad for dinner and watched the Strictly results (although I already knew who was going out as I always check the spoiler :-) The person who I thought would go did.
As we're not going away on our usual pre-christmas break with Agnes and Adrian this year (because of the possibility of my surgery, that's now not going to happen in December. Sigh) we are hoping to go away with them in February instead. Because of the chance of snow and ice, we're not going to go far, probably up to an hour away, so started looking for a holiday cottage. Nothing found so far.
