Still Life
Still Life With Two Kinds of Persimmons and a Blue Bowl
There is someone in the next block over who regularly lines up free persimmons along the rail of her fence, and Mr S picks up one or two on his morning walk. They are Hachiya, pointy and soft; I use them for baking, and Mr S likes eating them like ice cream. Some of the Fuyu—the ones that resemble apples—are from our next door neighbor, and a few are from the farmers’ market. Our own little tree yielded maybe a dozen, and I got them before the squirrels, but they have already been eaten and aren’t in this bowl.
