We’re Getting New Wires!

Excitement ran high on our block today—the electric company closed down the street and shut off the power while they Did Something. Exactly what they did depends on who you talked to and what time of day it was, but I think we all got new supply wires that bring electricity to the house from the street. One guy was telling Mr S that our house wasn’t going to get a new connection, even as I was busy photographing his partner in the bucket truck as he was pulling the cable from our eaves, so who knows. The photo doesn’t begin to show the number of work vehicles crammed on to the block; l’d say at least ten trucks, maybe more. And you can’t hear all the yelling back and forth. But they were done before deadline, the power came on with a rush, and we are back to a life with electricity.
