Praying Pete

Way back when, we had a contest to name this unusual saguaro. The finalists were Fingerbob and Praying Pete.

I thought the latter sounded a little more western and rugged so that's what I deemed to be the winner.

I was struck when I went out to shoot this today how it was rotting near the base and I thought it must be new. But when I looked at the old photo, I saw that it wasn't new at all. Funny the things we don't notice the first time around.
