I am getting back into the habit of taking shots early in the day in case of not getting chane later.  The "just in case2 shots are often of birds on the feeder.  Today I needed to fall back on the just in case shots, we had Kanyl visit all afternoon and into the evening.

The fortunes of Greenfinches have varied a lot over recent decades between 1995 and 2005 there was a very pleasing growth in numbers an increase of about 1/3.  Since then there has been a steady decline in numbers are down to about1/3 of the 1995 numbers.  Some (much?) of this can be laid at the door of a parasitic disease Trichomomosis.  So if you feed birds make sure you clean the feeders regularly as much infection takes place at feeding stations.
