A day in the life

Preparations for winter

In my part of the country we're expecting cold weather during the week, even minus degrees and perhaps snow is on the list of what can hit us.
I thought it best to finally bring my Fuchsia indoors for its winter rest. It's a shame to do it, now it seems to have a really nice time where it is, flowering and budding like if it was summer. The Fuchsia doesn't handle frost very well so to keep it healthy for next year, I brought it inside to rest.
The 100 l. water barrel needed emptying, I forgot last year and it was frozen solid. Luckily it didn't break and this year I'm better prepared.

The chimney-sweep was here early this morning and found nothing to complain about, which feels safe for me to go on firing as normal this time of year. Just now, I make a cozy fire the evenings when it feels a bit chilly, later on I will fire at least once every day for comfort and to save some electricity.
