On the town

A little while ago - no - a bit longer than that - we fell into the habit of having our tea (or supper, dinner - depending on social class and which part of the country you grew up in) on the sofa while watching tea-time quiz shows.  We know it’s a bad habit and the slippery slope. In mitigation we were both feeling a bit under the weather at the time.  To begin with anyway.

A few weeks ago Anniemay says “this has got to stop.  It’s the slippery slope”.  She has a plan.  “We’ll turn the TV off and have our dinner at the table”.  (I’m now calling it dinner as we’re eating at the table.)  We count this as a success and feel a bit smug.

A few days later she has another proposal; “after dinner, we’ll have a walk round the town”.  Hmm.  In the cold? In the wet? Both?  She brooks no argument; “We have coats and hats.”

Here we are tonight, just before 7.00pm.  It’s becoming a habit.
