A black fronted tern …..

….. ….. ….. on the river flats at the Lower Shotover River this morning.
It wasn’t a happy tern either. Missy & I had inadvertently strayed into what must be a nesting area and we were being chased out vehemently by several upset terns.
I’d put Missy on her lead anyway and had to steer my way away but I think I went the wrong way initially. There were several upset terns, and I was thankful that they weren’t Arctic terns, because they’d have had a good go at my head! Peace did get restored though, thankfully.
