The Dickie Hewlett Collection
Today's the day ....................... for pictures from an exhibition
There's an interesting exhibition on at Kirkcudbright Galleries at the moment - and we popped in for a look this morning.
The works on show belong to Art lover and collector Dorothie Hewlett (known as Dickie) who died in October 2011. It was her wish that her remarkable art collection return to her Scottish childhood home and this exhibition at Kirkcudbright Galleries shows the complete bequest to the Permanent Art Collection at Gracefield, Dumfries. It features over fifty drawings, paintings and original prints by Picasso, Braque and Matisse, along with key modern Scottish artists such as Joan Eardley RSA, William Gear and William Scott RA.
The exhibition runs until 5th January 2025 - entry is free, donations welcome. There's something for everyone, so if you happen to be in the area, do come and see it ........................
